Everything Italy. Mostly from the South.

For the past few years we have been living in Italy, house sitting, staying at AirBnBs, and renting our way around the country. While we mostly live in the South of Italy, exploring some of Italy's less popular and less-traveled cities, we also know our way around bigger and more visited cities like Rome, Naples, and even the ever-popular Amalfi Coast. In that time, we've amassed a collection of our favorite places to buy food, tips for getting around on buses and trains, and even how to streamline the residency application process.

In this section, we offer our insights into what we've learned from our years in Italy. Because this information is learned by us through weeks and months of living, rather than quick visits, we avoid offering information on places we've never been or have only been through for a brief few hours.

If you're looking for our recommendation on the best place to find gelato in Rome, how to apply for residency, or ways of getting around Italy, this section has you covered.

italian city guides

The guides below are best used as rough guidelines on visiting somewhere. They are not complete, we are not Trip Advisor.
We discuss how to get to the city, how to get around, any really exceptional food we've found, the best gelato (of course) or pastries, and any interesting or cool events, sights, or mysteries.

We only aim to provide you with the tools to have the best trip possible.
